For the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott has shown himself to be a game changer. Many were taken aback by the quarterback’s latest revelation regarding his mentality. Jerry Jones will find this information useful as he considers extending Prescott’s contract.

During the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott was selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round. The quarterback from Texas advanced through the rankings fast, solidifying his place as the top pick. After being tagged by the Cowboys, he was rewarded with a record-breaking $160 million contract for years in 2021.

But that contract is about to expire, and with quarterback pay setting new records, the Cowboys will need to spend a lot of money to keep Prescott on the field as he approaches the last year of his deal. The three-time Pro Bowler has made clear where he stands on payment, though. He told the reporters on Wednesday at the OTAs:

“I play not to win money. To be honest with you, I’ve never been fond of it. Would forfeit everything to play this game alone.

He went on to say that he concentrates on his side of the game and allows his agents and other interested parties handle that side. Prescott stated:

“I give the business people the freedom to determine its value and what they should give a quarterback, a person, or a leader in my play.””Control what I can control and handle that portion, and the rest will take care of itself,” is how I approach things.
