Ex-Lakers star rallies behind Cam Newton’s viral take on Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy

Despite the fact that Cam Newton is a free agent, his podcast continues to have an impact on NFL conversations. He recently talked about specific individuals at the position, most notably Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy. Newton referred to them as “game managers,” which went viral on social media.

Many people agree with the 2015 MVP’s attitude, including former Lakers great point guard Nick Van Exel. Van Exel turned to Twitter (X) and quote-tweeted Newton’s most recent piece, delivering a simple yet significant message:

Cam Newton included not only Purdy and Prescott, but also Tua Tagovailoa in the mix. The All-Pro went on to sаy that neither quarterback contributes offensively to his respective clubs.

“They aren’t winning because of him. He manages the game. Brock Purdy and Tua Tagovailoa might be considered game managers in their own right. Jared Goff. And seriously, Dak Prescott. These are the game managers. “They don’t make a difference.”

Who is the frontrunner for NFL MVP: Brock Purdy or Dak Prescott? - Sactown Sports

One might аrgue that Purdy and Prescott are both competing for league MVP this season. Purdy leads the San Francisco 49ers offense with a league-high 70.6 completion percentage and 116.3 passer rating. The 49ers’ quarterback has 3,553 yards and 25 touchdowns as well.

Prescott has the Dallas Cowboys offense on a roll, leading the NFL in touchdowns (28) and yards (3,505). Tagovailoa is having his greatest season with the Miami Dolphins, leading all quarterbacks with 3,697 yards and 24 touchdowns.

It is worth noting that all three clubs rank in the top five for points per game. Needless to sаy, Purdy, Prescott, and Tagovailoa have made a difference this season at center.

Why is Cam Newton not playing in the NFL this season?

Despite his words, it is appropriate to question why Cam Newton is not playing for a team given the quarterback injuries. There is widespread speculation as to why no team has signed him.

In October, the former Carolina Panthers standout was featured on former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III’s “RG3 and The Ones” podcast. He stated that he would need to be adequately compensated monetarily before signing a contract:

“You not about to sit here and penny pinch me, bro, I’m about to sit up here and sign no $5.5 (million) deal, bro.”

Cam Newton spent the first decade of his career with the Carolina Panthers, where he led them to the Suρer Bowl in 2015 as MVP. The organization terminated Newton during the 2019 season, but he found a home with the New England Patriots the next year.

In August 2021, the Patriots dismissed him, but he signed with Carolina for the 2021 season. He was released from the team eight games into the season. He is still in fantastic shape, and any team with quarterback concerns should add him to improve their roster.
