Drake Maye takes pressure off the Patriots by brushing off Tom Brady comparisons

By downplaying the similarities to Tom Brady, quarterback Drake Maye of the New England Patriots has attempted to relieve some of the strain on himself.

Since Brady is considered the greatest quarterback of all time and played practically his whole career with the Patriots, any new quarterback joining the team will have large shoes to fill as they try to identify the next Brady.

There are a lot of expectations for the 21-year-old Maye, who was selected third overall in the 2024 Draft.
Brady won’t be Maye.

He made it clear during his most recent news conference that he intends to play himself in the upcoming season rather than Brady.

“I am not going to be Tom Brady, but will try to be Drake Maye,” he stated.

Throughout his career, Brady won seven Super Bowl rings, six of which he earned while playing for the Patriots. The Patriots haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 46-year-old left the team following the 2019 campaign.

Drake Maye.
Brady is not completely disregarded by Maye, who acknowledges that he will always try to pick up tips from him.

Indeed, Tom Brady is the greatest of all time. It’s simple to say that, you know. The best player to ever play this game is him. I will not emulate Tom Brady. I’m going to attempt to emulate Drake Maye and then just try to absorb his knowledge. “Hopefully, learn a little bit about him,” he said.
