At Tom Brady’s roast on Sunday night, Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, showed great respect for former coach Bill Belichick.
Kevin Hart, the comedian, invited the two to the stage for a toast, and Kraft referred to Belichick as the “greatest coach” in NFL history.
“I want to say, this is the greatest coach in the history of the game that did what no one else has done,” Kraft stated. “Having Tom Brady and him was the greatest honor the good Lord gave me.”
Over the years, Belichick, Brady, and Kraft all experienced great success. Before Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and won another Super Bowl before retiring after the 2022 season, the team won six Super Bowls and made nine appearances in the championship game.
Belichick stayed with Kraft through the 2023 season before departing New England in January, while Brady left the Patriots in 2020.
With Jerod Mayo leading the team, the Patriots hope to replicate their previous level of success from Belichick and Brady as they embark on a new chapter in their history. Drake Maye, a former North Carolina quarterback, was selected by New England in the draft with the intention of becoming its next franchise quarterback. Maye wants to lead the Patriots to its glory years.
Entering a new season without the coach he regards as the greatest of all time will be quite the adjustment for Kraft, but the future looks bright.
