Tom Brady, 46, isn’t ‘walking through these doors,’ says his former teammate and Patriots first-year coach Jerod Mayo after the New England legend floated the idea of ANOTHER comeback

It is highly improbable that Tom Brady will play for the New England Patriots again, according to Jerod Mayo, who was Brady’s first-year teammate and coach.

His recent comments that he wasn’t against returning to the NFL in the late season—and even bringing up his previous club—made headlines.

Although Mayo expressed his doubts about instructing Brady in the near future, he did emphasize that the seven-time Suρer Bowl winner is more than welcome to join the team as a coach.

“Tom is my soulmate,” Mayo told Greg Hill of WEEI. Any time he wants to come in and coach, he can. Regarding actually playing on the field, though, I am unsure.

“You must come here and compete” if Brady returns to the “best player will play” scenario. As a competitor, he thrives. He probably won’t be coming through these doors anytime soon, though.

Mayo and Brady appear together at training camp in 2014, when they were both Patriots

Both Mayo and Brady were Patriots in 2014, and they were spotted together during training camp. Brady and the Patriots don’t appear to be a good fit, at least on paper. Coming off a 4-13 season, Brady seems out of place wanting to win the Suρer Bowl for the eighth time in franchise history.

Brady is not going to be convinced to come out of retirement for just a fill-in position with the Patriots, even if New England could use a seasoned starter to help develop first-round choice and potential starting quarterback Derek Maye.

While Brady is getting ready to make the transition to Fox’s broadcast booth this year, sports radio great Mike Francesa thinks the Patriots legend will have a tough time adjusting.

‘I don’t think his heart is in it,’ Francesa stated in response to a listener email segment on his BetRivers podcast that inquired for his thoughts on Brady in the booth.

I don’t see him as having that kind of personality. In my opinion, he will not excel at it. Truly, I am not.

As an analyst, you need to be able to see the game, and you need to be able to see it fast. You also need to bring personality to the job, in my opinion.

Spending so much time reviewing replays makes football analysis a challenging job.

Mike Francesa says Brady will struggle because it requires a 'unique quality'  he doesn't have+5View gallery

According to Mike Francesa, Brady will have a hard time with it since it calls for a “special quality” that he lacks.

Analyzing what occurs on replay is likely to take up a significant amount of your time. Additionally, your delivery must be charming and easygoing. ‘I can’t find him.’

Brady has hinted at a potential comeback to the NFL at the age of 46, even though he has a position in the Fox booth waiting for him.

Earlier this month, Brady stated on “DeepCut” that he would listen to an NFL team’s offer to sign him if they were interested.

Brady has already announced his retirement from the NFL twice, in 2022 and 2023.

In contrast to his present absence from football, which spans more than 14 months, his initial retirement lasted only 40 days. The only difference between his two retirements was that he had to wait nine days after the second one to file his paperwork with the NFL and NFLPA.
