The person who doesn’t back down from expressing himself is Cam Newton. The former quarterback for the Carolina Panthers has a tendency of criticizing aspects of the football world that he finds objectionable. Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, is his most recent target.
Over thirty years have passed since Jones took over as the Cowboys’ manager. After taking over as the team’s principal owner in 1989, the 81-year-old has instilled his football philosophy in the Texas-based squad. Cam Newton, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner, disagrees with Jones’ approaches, though.
Newton most recently made an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, where the tight end has won three Suρer Bowls. Newton did not hold back when former Denver Broncos player Sharpe questioned him about the problems at the Dallas Cowboys, namely quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract extension.
“This message is to Dak Prescott,” Newton stated, “we are looking for that m*****f*****g dog, and I don’t think Jerry Jones will allow him to become that because you got to be politically correct; you got to be almost the president of football almost to be the signal caller for the Dallas Cowboys.”The Dallas Cowboys need a tough guy to tell them no f**k that at quarterback. This is my sҺit. Here’s what we are going to do. I hear everything. However, we aim to succeed. Do you think we try to win? Alright, neat. Let me onto the field now and win this football game. That kind of aura. Dak can’t be that, in my opinion.”Look what I’ve said. Consequently, those will be quite аggressive forces. that I’m not sure if they can advance to the following stage.”
Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his contract, and the franchise is reportedly yet to start negotiations about an extension. If the Cowboys do not end up re-signing Prescott until January of next year, the 30-year-old is set to become a free agent.
The Cowboys could end up losing Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott was drafted by the Cowboys in the 2016 NFL draft. The Mississippi State alum was not a highly touted quarterback going into the draft, and the Cowboys managed to scoop him in the fourth round. However, since his rookie season, Dak Prescott has become the starter for “America’s Team.”

The Cowboys did leave it late in 2021 as well, signing Prescott to a four-year, $160 million contract that broke the quarterback payment market. A similar case could exist for this season as well. If not, Prescott would be heading toward free agency in 2025.
