The wide receiver who is widely regarded as the best in the NFL draft—and a possible No. 3 overall pick target for the New England Patriots—is choosing to let his footage speak for itself.
Rather than show up for his Pro Day, one of the New England Patriots’ top draft targets is letting his footage speak for him.
Star receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State has decided not to work out at the Buckeyes’ Pro Day on Wednesday, according to SI’s Albert Breer. Breer continues, “Harrison inquired if the nine clubs he met with at the NFL Scouting Combine—which he also declined to attend—needed to see anything at his Pro Day, and every organization he spoke with said, “No.”
Harrison will continue working out on his own for the next NFL season in Columbus instead of attending his Pro Day.
Harrison literally has nothing more to prove considering what he did during his time in college. Throughout his three years as a Buckeye, he hauled in 150 receptions for 2,495 yards and 31 touchdowns. In addition, he was selected as a unanimous All-American twice and was named the nation’s finest receiver last season, earning the Fred Biletnikoff trophy.
In addition, he is the son of Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., so even in the absence of his flashy college numbers, he would have drawn interest from numerous teams just on the basis of his family history.
Harrison, 21, is typically the first non-quarterback off the board and is almost always rated in the top five in mock drafts. Harrison is projected by most mock drafts to go to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 4 overall, but he would be the obvious choice if the Patriots decide not to select a quarterback.
