In an appearance on the web series “Deep Cut,” New England Patriots legend Tom Brady hinted to a further lack of permanence with his most recent retirement and slowly opened up the possibility of yet another NFL comeback on Thursday.
“I have nothing against it,” Brady said to Blends. “I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed to take over an NFL team as an owner. I will always be physically fit. I have the ability to toss the ball forever. I’m not sure whether I could come in for a short while, like when Michael Jordan returns. However, I wouldn’t object to it.
Blends obliquely inquired as to if Brady’s dream destination would be the San Francisco 49ers, his beloved team from his childhood in California. However, it seems that the deserving player still harbors memories of his former squad.
“Soldiers? Perhaps,” Brady remarked sarcastically. “Raiders? (Las Vegas)? Perhaps. You never know.”
Brady, 46, said that his financial interest in the Raiders, which has not received league sanction, may put an early end to this most recent attempt at a comeback. Even owners with minority control are prohibited from participating on the field under current NFL regulations. Brady also mentioned how excited he is about his next job with Fox Sports, where he would presumably take over as an analyst for the network’s NFL games. Once more, no formal statement has been made, which is surprising given the favorable evaluations of the chief color commentator at the moment, Greg Olsen.
Even all of that shouldn’t be able to convince anybody who still doubt Brady’s true disappearance. Brady’s induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame on June 12 ensures that he will visit Gillette Stadium this year, if only ceremonially.
