NFL Hall of Famer criticizes Dallas Cowboys for Dak Prescott’s contract situation

This week, Shannon Sharpe and former NFL MVP Cam Newton reviewed Dak Prescot’s contract issue and contrasted it to that of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on their podcast, “Club Shay Shay.”

First, Newton shared his thoughts on why, in his opinion, the Cowboys haven’t been able to go far in the NFL playoffs under Prescott.

“This is a message to Dak Prescott: Jerry Jones won’t likely let him grow into that [crаp] dog that we’re searching for. Because being the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys requires you to be politically correct and to be almost the president of football, Newton explained.

Newton and Sharpe concurred that Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, wants to get his way and claimed that this was preventing Prescott from reaching the next level.

When talking on why Dak Prescott still hadn’t gotten a new NFL contract, Sharpe went on to compare him to Tony Romo, to which Newton agreed.

“I know a quarterback who was not nearly as successful in winning games. Dak probably has won more playoff games than him and he never had to worry about a contact,” said Sharpe, “All I know is Tony Romo was made the highest-paid quarterback in football with no Suρer Bowls, no NFC Championship games, no first-team All-Pro, no second-team All-Pro. He has never experienced contact anxiety.

Romo spent 14 seasons in the NFL, where he was selected for four Pro Bowls and the second team All-Pro. Despite having three Pro Bowl selections, an NFL second-team All-Pro pick in 2016, and an NFL оffensive Rookie of the Year title in his eight seasons, Prescott has not been able to lead the Cowboys past the divisional round.

Although Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb, two of the team’s other outstanding players, also did not obtain long-term contract extensions from the Cowboys during the summer, Prescott has yet to receive one.
