Chad Ochocinco’s heartfelt reaction to daughter becoming member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, a former NFL All-Pro wide receiver, was ecstatic by his daughter’s performance at Prairie View A&M’s Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority prom. Fresh out of the probate, Johnson—who co-hosts the “Nightcap” podcast with NFL Hall of Fame tight end Shannon “Unc” Sharpe—took the opportunity to talk about the experience. Chadé, Johnson’s daughter, is scheduled to graduate with the class of 2025 from Prairie View A&M, where she entered in 2021.

Ochocinco stated on the show, “Obviously you know that I didn’t attend an HBCU.” Now, I’m a little bit envious of you. I’m envious of you since, at Prairie View A&M’s probate tonight, I witnessed my kid cross over—yes, she did so as an AKA—and I want I could have shared that moment with you. I have never been in a setting like that, Unc. Although I am an ambassador at FAMU, I haven’t been given the chance. I’m usually there for a football game or some other athletic event. However, I must remove my spectacles after witnessing the excitement in that auditorium and realizing that I have never seen anything like it. That level of enthusiasm, love, and support for the people who were crossing over from all the fraternities and sororities, despite the fact that you have nothing to do with them. You mention family? The vibe and atmosphere of the place was almost like being in a family reunion.

Ochocinco was nearly moved to tears multiple times as he described the incident. His daughter’s accomplishments and the probate’s influence undoubtedly had a profound emotional impact. Later on, he compared the feeling to being at the King of Pop’s concert.

The AKAs arrived last. I can only explain it like this. It had a Michael Jackson vibe to it. I saw my baby strutting and hitting that stroll when those AKAs came out, marching to that tune. Oh my god. Being able to see my daughter cross was, undoubtedly, one of the best and most satisfying sensations. I’m all over the floor when I should be in the stands. I crept to the ground.

Johnson was so affected by what happened that night that he thought about becoming a student at an HBCU.
