A dating tip from Kylie Kelce to brother-in-law Travis Kelce would have been helpful as their relationship with Taylor Swift was about to take off.
In September, Kylie, 31, said to Travis, 34, on his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, “This is going to sound a little harsh, but I think you should do the mustache [in your dating app photos] because if they swipe right at your worst then they’ll love you at your best.”
Travis and Jason, 35, who got married to Kylie in 2018, approved of the idea. “Wow, that’s clever,” Travis, who had dubbed his mustache El Travador, retorted. “That’s just smart; it doesn’t even hurt my feelings.”
A few weeks later, the 33-year-old Swift supported the Kansas City tight end as his club defeated the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium, sporting the same mustache. Since then, the pop sensation has attended two of the three games that the Chiefs have won, and thus far, Travis has persisted in looking great in the well-trimmed look.
Last year was Travis’s mustache debut. Afterwards, the Super Bowl champion gave an explanation for why, on sometimes during training camp, he chooses it over a full beard. During an August “New Heights” episode, he said to Jason, “That’s when I don’t have any paid appearances, or I’m not subject to doing anything where I have to team up with a company and look presentable.”
When Jason asked what Swift would say about the mustache, he played coy, but he did say he thought the response would be nice. The NFL player confessed his crush on the singer after seeing her Eras Tour in July.
He joked, “Well, we’re not going to talk about Taylor Swift in this episode, but I have a feeling she’s going to like it.”
Travis appears to be aware that his defining style now includes a mustache. During a press conference on Friday, October 20, when asked what accessories fans should get if they wanted to dress up like him and Swift for Halloween, he immediately mentioned the facial hair.
“Dude, that mustache is slowly going away, but let me tell you something—that mustache along with the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a while,” he remarked. “I suppose my’stache and… maybe a bracelet or something, because I had [the mustache] when I first met Taylor.”
It’s unclear how Swift truly feels about the appearance, but she seems to be enjoying getting to know Travis. The two have been sighted out together several times in addition to attending three of his games together since September. The singer returned to Kansas City earlier this month so that the twosome could have a “chill night” together one day after Travis’ 34th birthday, an exclusive insider revealed Us Weekly after the singer celebrated Travis’ victory against the Bears with him and his team.
A few days later, the couple appeared on Saturday Night Live in their individual capacities before going on a romantic date at Catch Steakhouse in NYC and attending the SNL after-party. The next night, they dined at the Waverly Inn and had yet another romantic evening in the Big Apple.
