For 2024, the Dallas Cowboys are putting all of their chips in the middle of the table. Owner Jerry Jones is seeking advice from his finest players, including linebacker Micah Parsons, in order to assemble a roster capable of lifting Dallas back to the top of the NFL standings. The club is in a desperate attempt to snap its 28-year Suρer Bowl drought.
Before the Cowboys to really contend with unseating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, gaps must be addressed, as seen by their season-ending defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round. One of them is on the defensive line, and it just so happens that the Chiefs’ defensive anchor and one of the best interior lineman in the NFL may become a free agency next month.
In a recent interview on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Parsons said that he had discussed with Jones what he believed to be the next move the Cowboys should take in 2024. Naturally, Parsons, a defensive player by trade, recommended adding more muscle to the line and bringing in “one of them big old, nasty, pass-rushing, get-going” lineman.
“I said, ‘look at every team that was in that final four,'” Parsons said. “Who were they with? Detroit and San Francisco. Who was it that Baltimore had? What a fantastic linebacking corps? Who was it that San Francisco had? Outstanding linebacking corps. They arrived, and Nick Bolton of Kansas City was one among them. I said that we must get a great, 330 nasty inner linebacker in addition to another larger linebacker who would eventually come down.”
As a “nasty” interior lineman with experience, Chris Jones, the veteran Chief, is a good match. Although Jones has expressed his desire to remain in Kansas City, there is little chance of a contract extension anytime soon. Given the tense nature of the past talks between Jones and the Chiefs, it is not impossible that the two may split ways.
Could Chris Jones really end up in Dallas?
