Tom Brady did a media tour on Tuesday to talk about the news that his companies will be joining with another one.
Brady was asked this question on Front Office Sports Today: “I know you’re interested in owning an NFL team at some point.” Why do you care about that, and how are things going with that?”
Just so you know, Brady has had a plan for about a year to buy a piece of the Raiders. NFL owners have been hesitant to accept the deal for a number of reasons, one of which is that Mark Davis, the owner of the Raiders, has offered Brady a huge discount for five to ten percent of the team.
What is it about that that interests you, Tom? How are things going?
That was Brady’s answer to the first part. It was so long that he never had to get to the second part.
“I love sports, and I love how they bring people together,” Brady said. “I saw what happened. When I was growing up in the Bay Area and the 49ers were very successful, it changed the way everyone in the Bay Area thought about football.” Then I went to Michigan, where I was a part of such a great society and setting that every Saturday the whole city would get together to watch Michigan football. It’s also clear that we had success in New England and Tampa. There were parades, other players came out to support us, and kids wore shirts. I also believe that sports can help people in a lot of ways. In sports, people of all ages, races, religions, cultures, and income levels can come together. It’s something to support and cheer for. I also love sports because they are so real and in the present. We are all so true to what we’re doing. When we win, it’s great, but when we lose, man, it stinks. “But you have to go through those hard times to build that resilience and grit.”
That was it. It was almost as clever as when he wasn’t asked about 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s public claim that coach Kyle Shanahan told him that the team wаnted to sign Brady for 2023.
Brady might be better off as a politician than a radio host. Answering a question without giving an answer is already something he does very well.
