With the start of the summer, the Dallas Cowboys may be at a crossroads. Jerry Jones, Dallas’ owner, talked about the strеss of the Suρer Bowl and the team’s plans for the summer.
As the Dallas Cowboys start to put together another broken season, the heat keeps building in Frisco.
Three straight 12–5 seasons have ended in disasters in the playoffs, and fans have been given more proof of their fears: Dallas is running it back on the headset, bringing back head coach Mike McCarthy and most of the staff, assuming they don’t get promoted elsewhere.
During the off-season, the Cowboys will have to make important choices about their cap room and when they’ll have to pay the price. Dallas will be able to keep its stars or look elsewhere because quarterback Dak Prescott is about to take a $60 million cap Һit and receiver CeeDee Lamb and edge rusher Micah Parsons are about to sign new deals.
Both running back Tony Pollard and left tackle Tyron Smith will soon be free agents. It’s possible to switch to younger, cheaper players and aim for a more stable future. Jerry Jones, the team’s owner, talked about how he plans to spend the summer and what fans can expect as the next few months set the tone for the 2024 season.
Jones said, “We’re going all in.” “I think you’ll see us this year, not in the future.”
It is possible for him to stay competitive, whether he feeds into the hype machine (see our Mike Fisher’s take) or tells the trutҺ about the Cowboys’ plans. It will be even more important to be smart, but Dallas should be a player in free agency.
Going all in seems to make Smith more likely to come back to protect Prescott’s blindside. Not only that, but it also helps the senior reinforcements Dallas bought last season, like receiver Brandin Cooks and cornerback Stefon Gilmore.
Jones’s words could also affect the NFL Draft of 2024. The Cowboys picked defensive tackle Mazi Smith and tight end Luke Schoonmaker with their first two picks in last year’s draft. Both were seen as draft possibilities who could grow. Both jobs usually take longer to create, and they weren’t very important to the team’s plans for 2023.
“Going all in” usually means you’ll Һit the ground. (And maybe since Jerry is 81.)
McCarthy’s seat is already hоt, and fans almost rose up in protest when he was brought back after the embarrassing Wild Card Round loss. A slow start or an early-round loss would be the last straw for a coaching team that hasn’t quite figured things out yet.Jones explained what he is going to do. Their hopes in 2024 will depend on how the front office interprets those words.
