Micah Parsons’ brief NFL career yielded record stats and dominating moments, drawing parallels to some of the league’s finest players ever.
Warren Sapp, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fаme, tried to put the ridiculous comparisons to defensive legend Lawrence Taylor to rest on Wednesday’s Fearless With Jason Whitlock episode.
Sapp argued that Jerry Jones should retain Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott after the Cowboys’ shоcking playoff defeat at the hands of Green Bay, citing the defense as the main cause of the 48-32 loss.
Sapp advised Whitlock to “sit still” when asked what owner Jerry Jones’s goals should be. “Since there was no crime. Jordan Love was on fire when I last looked.”
The Parsons criticism then surfaced.
“They told me Michael Parsons was the next Lawrence Taylor,” he said. “There are enough plays that I can show you where he looks more like Betty Taylor than Lawrence. Come on, I meаn. Man, are you kidding me? Come on.
Parsons only managed two total tackles on Sunday, falling short of his 14 sacks during the regular season to cause any real disruption to Love and the Packers.
“I took out the tape; I’ll show you, I’m not fleeing. He’s going to turn it off if he doesn’t think he has a chance to make the play. Simply turn it off. Simply remove the key. And just like that, it’s done.
“[DeMarcus] Lawrence sets the pace up front and then Micah Parson takes it off the top.”
After receiving less than stellar ratings, Sapp focused on linebackers Markquese Bell and Damone Clark.
“The linebacker core — No. 14 and No. 33 might be the two worst I’ve seen in the National Football League in the last 10 years.”
Despite how this season ended, Jones said on Wednesday night that he will keep McCarthy for at least the 2024 campaign.
But it’s unclear whether defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will be back.
